- Discover the Dunkirk Port Museum
Welcome to the Dunkirk Port Museum! Here, every street corner resonates with the echoes of port history. Dunkirk is a city with a rich maritime history, and its port museum is one of the city's major attractions. If you're passionate about the last century, the sea, boats and maritime history, don't miss this rare gem in northern France!
A CAPTIVATING JOURNEY THROUGH THE CITY'S MARITIME HISTORY
Located in the old port of Dunkirk, the building was formerly a tobacco warehouse. It was then bought by the city of Dunkirk and transformed into a maritime museum. Today it's more than just a museum, as the tour takes you on a journey through the captivating history of France's largest port.
On this tour, you can discover the colourful history of the port and the fascinating details of the life of Jean Bart, Dunkirk's most famous pirate. In front of the museum are three ships: the three-masted schooner Duchesse Anne, the lightship Sandettié and the tug Entreprenant. You can visit these ships as part of a guided tour.
