Le Crotoy, located in the department of Pas-de-Calais (62) in France, is a charming family seaside resort situated in the Bay of the Somme near the Marquenterre Park, a favourite place for nature lovers. The town of Le Crotoy had its moment of glory at the beginning of the century when the perfumer Guerlain introduced Parisian high society to the joys of sea bathing. The resort was also appreciated by many painters because its southern exposure allows it to benefit from unique reflections in the Baie de Somme.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO IN LE CROTOY?
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NATURAL ASSETS OF LE CROTOY
Its fine sandy beach facing south on the Bay of the Somme at low tide stretches as far as the eye can see, allowing families to fish for prawns or collect shells, but also allowing sportsmen to practice kite-surfing, horse-riding and stand-up paddle.
In order to take full advantage of the water activities, it is imperative to find out about the tide times, as they can seriously disrupt your plans!
For animal lovers, the ornithological park of Marquenterre will delight you. Nature outings with a guide from Le Crotoy are organised as well as visits to the famous Baie de Somme on foot or by boat.
Would you rather discover the area by bike? No problem, Le Crotoy has many signposted cycling routes.
