Within 25 minutes away from Nice you can find Vence, a historic town that is without any doubt one of the most picturesque places in France. This charming city is located in the Alpes – Maritimes department, which is the second most important tourist region in France after Paris. Vence has a pleasant Mediterranean climate, where the sun shines 300 days a year. Not only is it a popular summer destination, but also an ideal place to spend the winter.
The medieval city center of Vence is a historic pearl with highlights such as the ‘Chapelle du Rosaire’ with paintings by Henri Matisse and the ‘Cathédrale Notre Dame de Nativité’. The best way to discover the city is by getting lost in the cozy, old streets with its typical shops and markets. Even on a culinary level, Vence delivers! There are numerous gastronomic restaurants, with or without Michelin stars, and other traditional restaurants.

What to see and do on the French Riviera ?
The saying ‘Living like God in France’ was definitely invented with the French Riviera in mind, thanks to its amazing beaches, beautiful seaside resorts and picturesque fishing villages. This Southern French coastal area has been the hotspot of the rich and famous thanks to its azure-blue sea, the nice weather and, of course, thanks to prestigious events such as the film Festival of Cannes.
Saint-Paul-de-Vence, situated only 4 kilometer away, is also worth a visit. This picturesque artists’ village has been the favorite residence of poets, writers and artists like Picasso, Henri Matisse and Chagall since the 1920s. Art lovers will also love ‘La Colombe d’Or’ and the ‘Foundation Maeght’, a private museum of modern and contemporary art by Giacometti, Miró, Chagall and others.
Vence is also the perfect – and affordable – base for exploring the Côte d’Azur. The city is located in the golden triangle of Nice, Cannes and Monaco. But also Antibes and Grasse are nearby. Perhaps less obvious, but Vence is only 45 minutes from the Gréolière-les-Neiges ski area. Ideal for the winter sports fanatics among us. In a nutshell, there is literally something for everyone: beach, culture, hiking and skiing… Vence has it all!
