WHERE IS THE OPAL COAST?
The Opal Coast is located in the North of France a few kilometres from the english coast. It's a very easy to get there if you're coming from the UK and want to spend a short stay in France without having to travel too far. You can either come by train with the Eurostar, with the shuttle or the ferry. It is the perfect place to spend a family holiday whether it is for a short or a long stay.
WHAT TO DO ON THE OPAL COAST?
It is a super friendly destination where there are plenty of activities to do and some really lovely seasides resorts to visit. If you come mainly to explore nature, we advise you to do some nature walks. For example, the one between the Cap Blanc nez & Cap Gris nez is absolutely incredible.
Obviously you will also explore the numerous sandy beaches of the Opal Coast. They are often very large and have several kilometres of fine sand: the ideal setting for a walk and a good holiday. The good news is that dogs are allowed on many of the beaches in the north of France. So you can stay with your dog in our holiday residences and go for walks with your doggie!
The gastronomy is exceptional and we're sure that you're going to love it. You will enjoy seafood and local dishes such as Welsh for example.
It is also up to you to explore the local markets to discover the typical dishes of northern French gastronomy. Ready for a dish of fried mussels accompanied by a local beer? Believe us, you won't be disappointed!

BEST SPORT ACTIVITIES ON THE OPAL COAST
The sport not to be missed on the Opal Coast is sand yachting. It is a practice which is highly appreciated in the region thanks to our large sandy beaches and the omnipresence of the wind.
Other nautical activities such as kite surfing, paddle, windsurfing and surfing are also possible in Northern France.
Horse lovers will be pleased to visit one of the equestrian centres where it is possible to ride along the Cap Blanc Nez and Equihen Plage for example.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO STAY ON THE OPAL COAST?
Each season has its own charm and it's great to stay in the north of France from January to December: the magic of the Opal Coast takes place even in winter! You will be able to watch the kitesurfers having fun in the waves, take a breath of fresh air, see the children running on the beach with their rubber boots...
If you choose spring or summer to come and visit the Opal Coast, it will be quite different. It is always a real pleasure to enjoy the first rays of sunshine at the seaside, to take advantage of the beautiful summer days to sunbathe and even to swim in the fresh water of the North Sea.
