THE CITY OF PERFUME

In Grasse you will smell a thousand smells: like those of the Fragonard perfumery for example. According to the writer Francis de Croisset, Grasse is the only city in the world where the word factory is poetic. And this is due to its perfume factories and its gardens of perfumed flowers! Grasse offers many activities to awaken the senses, perfumes and scents of the Pays de Grasse, as well as creative, fun, educational and recreational activities for individuals wishing to learn more about the world of perfumery. These are the kind of activities you don't get to do every day! Ready for a sensory experience in Grasse?

You can start your visit with the International Perfume Museum. From Antiquity to the present day, you will be able to discover the various existing skills and techniques used over the centuries. Beyond the smells, you will be able to explore the processes of all the products around perfumery: whether it be make-up or soaps for example.

You can also visit the gardens of this museum. Indeed, the cultivation of flowers is no longer as present as it used to be in the Grasse region. Nowadays, flowers are grown and imported from more distant countries. In order to continue this tradition around Grasse, the Musée International de la Parfumerie has its own gardens where the flowers used as raw materials are grown. Admission to the museum is 4 euros per person and special rates are available depending on your situation. Please also note that the museum regularly organises guided tours and events.

You can also visit the historic factory and the Fragonard Perfumery Museum. If you are a fan of this renowned perfumery, we recommend that you read our article about this unique family business. The historic factory can be visited free of charge and will allow you to discover the place where the thousands of Fragonard products, from perfumes to soaps, are made. It is also possible to visit the flower factory in Grasse. The ideal opportunity to learn more about the world of perfumery and the historical know-how of the Fragonard house.

But there is not only the Fragonard house in Grasse. Gallimard and Molinard perfumes are also very renowned. In addition, you can also create your own fragrance in Grasse with professionals. Get closer to the Fragonard, Galimard or Molinard perfumeries in order to know the conditions of each of the perfumers. It is a workshop that is likely to awaken all your senses and allow you to take a first step into the world of creation and perfumery.
